Does it fit better? Question: Does the Jubilee bracelet from the new GMT 2 (126710BLRO) fit on the Explorer (214270)? Both bands are 20mm and taper to 16mm. Case shape is different where the GMT is flat and Explorer contours to the wrist.

A user compares the new 40mm Explorer with the old 39mm model and shares photos of the differences. See the opinions and feedback from other watch enthusiasts on the case, bracelet, dial and crown design. i find the combo of roman numerals, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet to be a bit too busy. This is one of the few Rolex designs that i find visually jarring. So for me, its an easy answer: Explorer. But to your other point- i agree.

I saw a post on the Rolex forums someone made who had the numerals milled out and lumed. I thought it looked phenomenal. It really made it the perfect explorer. The great size of the 36mm explorers, with the lume of the modern 39mm mkii. The lack of lume on the 114270 is why I went with the 214270. The pictured Explorer is the 39 mm model (refer to the dial), so it has a 20 mm lug width. For me, the flexibility of the 20 mm lug width (including OEM jubilee) is a strong argument for the 39 version.
