This instructable will guide you through removing and replacing the bezel on your Rolex Submariner. The same general process can be used with a GMT Master II. I used my stainless steel anniversary sub, reference 16610. Remove the insert, use your thumbs to push it out. Install the new insert, lining up 12 with 12 and start to push it in, work it from the 12 as picture. If you find it's hard to pop the insert in place, use the soft cloth cover the edge of your desk and gently push the bezel against it. If you're changing the insert and will probably change back, Buy one of this Bergeon case opener. It's cheap and very handy to remove the bezel. Tried with plastic prying tool and didn't work as it took a bit of force and the plastic tool .This is a guide on how to remove your Rolex Submariner / Gmt Master II bezel if needs changing or to clean underneath due to rotating problems.
I pop the bezel off with my fingers, remove the retention ring and push the insert out from the bottom of the bezel. I snap the new insert in with my thumbs, applying uniform pressure starting at six o'clock working to twelve. Place the retention ring in and then snap the bezel back onto the watch. Takes about a minute. Remove the whole bezel, pop out the insert, replace it in to the bezel, press bezel back onto the watch. It takes some time to get the insert lined up correctly in the bezel, and you may have to repeat the process until you get it right.
