Looks like a light grease smudge. if my memory is correct they are effectively the same size but design choices give the 124270 a visual mass on wrist that has it looking larger. the 19mm lug width helps with the case to strap proportion and creates a more "lollypop" profile much like the 214270 that we've all become accustomed to.
